World first for Vigilio S.A. and its partners

Paris, February 19th 2009 - After having developed Vigi'Fall, Vigilio S.A., with a Consortium of European partners, will realize Mini'Fall®, the first miniaturized wearable and radiocommunicating fall detection device for the elderly, via FallWatch, an important research project granted by the FP7 programme of the European Commission.

Created with the support of Paris Biotech Santé incubator and of the Assistance Publique des Hôpitaux de Paris (APHP), member of the Entreprendre network, supported by OSEO, AGBM, Ile de France region and Essonne department, Vigilio S.A. is now coordinating the FallWatch project, whose results are expected for the end of 2010.

The Consortium gathers a group of high-tech SMEs : Intervox-BSE, leader in the personal security markets and in electronic solutions, Statice Santé, expert in transformation of biomaterials and manufacturing of medical devices, Plastod, specialised in medical adhesives, Micropto, specialised in microelectronics, NanoCat, expert in nanomaterials and ABSL, which supplies high performance batteries to the global defence industry, European Space Agency and the NASA.

Famous research participants in the project: the TIMC-IMAG laboratory of the University Joseph Fourier (Grenoble, France), whose works in the area of health parameters are a reference, QinetiQ (Hampshire, UK), which has contributed to major technological advances including lithium batteries, ITAV (Madrid, Spain), which makes authority in terms of radiofrequencies and the LCPO, from the Carnot Institute MIB (Bordeaux) whose research on adhesives and polymers that can be used as biomaterials are in the vanguard.

In the view of a future international dissemination which is in accordance with its strategic options and to the concrete achievements of the expected Care Revolution in the area of assistance to persons, Europ Assistance is equally part of the Consortium.

The originality of the future Mini'Fall® relies on a miniaturized radiocommunicating embedded electronics device patched to the person which has to date no equivalent around the world in the area of health parameters monitoring of subjects with a health status demanding a permanent survey.
